The Adventures of Max and Lewis (and Lily, Poppy, and parents)

Borrowing an idea from this dear friend , I've been telling stories. Mostly these are to benefit the Explorer, but the Artist is pretty interested too. (Must do some thinking of stories for him.)

This is a family of explorers. Max is the oldest, he is nine. Lewis is six, just like the Explorer. Lily is two and gets into a lot of things. (Max and Lewis are so patient.) Poppy is the baby. There are parents, too. They have lesser roles.

It began with things the Explorer feared. (There were a lot and we've slowly chipped away at them.) Then we would use Max and Lewis to practice some of the Explorer's OT (occupational therapy) homework. Apparently Max and Lewis were learning archery. Some of the arrows went different ways and sometimes Lily got a hold of an arrow and bent it. The Explorer's job was to remember and copy the arrows I drew that went along with the story.

Turns out that Max, Lewis, and their family are moving. Not to a different country like we are (did I mention we are moving to Wales?), but to a different planet! I expect many adventures in store for them and some hardships but I'm sure our heros will make it through better for the experience.

Like the Explorer's daddy, Lewis's daddy had to go visit the new place. That was hard on the rest of the family, but Lily (like the Tiny Goddess) was beside herself and got into a lot of trouble. Luckily Lewis's daddy found them a place to live in, a castle!

Like the Explorer, Lewis is learning his alphabet. So we've been telling stories about how he learned his letters.

(I'll come and add pictures later.)

We are going to be conventional and simply approach the letters in order here.

Lewis learned A the day his daddy flew off in a rocketship to the new planet. The rocket was shaped like an A and even the fire coming out of the ship looked a bit like an A. Unfortunately, Lewis's daddy was scared by the loud noise of the rocketship and screamed. Aaaaaaaaaaa! Interesting, that is the same sound that A makes!

Today we will draw Bb. You see, Poppy has this teddy bear with a big fat round belly and Lily, on one of her daily rampages, smushed him into a ball and began to hit him around the room with a stick. We'll draw that one today.

Lewis and his family have a few cats. I imagine one of them will make an appearance for the C story...

nak

We had the baby! Little sister was born June 26 at 4:51 am after the most ideal birth situation (save that my whole team wasn't there :(  and of course the pain, but such is the nature of birth). Honestly except for what I mentioned, I couldn't have planned it better. I didn't even push, I swear to you, the Goddess herself pushed her out for me. While the Artist didn't get to catch as planned (nor did her  Daddy), one of my best friends in the whole world, and my very amazing doula did and it was her first catch. I'm proud of that for her. Honestly, it was like catching a very slippery and fast football.

There were some amazing happenings during this labor including proof of the Explorer's psychic abilities (I kid you not), and might I add that there are some people who run a BBQ stand here who deserve to be tarred and feathered for calling their amazingly gross "BBQ" hickory smoked. Hickory smoked, my arse (working on my British), more like artificial liquid smoke flavoring. No fun to puke that up during transition. Not to mention the aforementioned boy's three SCREAMING night terrors (a nightly occurance 'round here) during labor.

So I have more to post and I'm sorry for neglecting y'all. I do plan on making some changes around here possibly even moving blogs because I want to change usernames.

I'm definately done with birth and pregnancy with my own body (not opposed to it for others, though. In fact, I've been invited to a birth that is coming up here soon. I'm super psyched about it, too. Yikes! Must find childcare asap.)

Now that I'm not in constant agonizing pain, I am so grateful. I really feel blessed that my pain mostly disappeared and things like walking across the room or carrying laundry baskets are such a treasure.

so so tired

I have never been so tired at the end of a pregnancy.

I'm so glad this is the last one.

(Not our last child, but last pregnancy for sure!)
